In 1995, Melanie Mayron adapted Ann M. Martin’s beloved book series. Seven junior high girls organize a daycare camp for children. And in the process, they experience adolescent growing pains. You can now watch the Netflix adaptation as well.

Schuyler Fisk – Kristy

Daughter of actress Sissy Spacek and production designer Jack Fisk, Schuyler shined in the role of Kristy. The movie served as her breakthrough role. She waited a couple of years to get back to the movies, but she found success elsewhere. In 2000, she appeared in the movie Snow Day.

But thanks to her success in the movies, she launched a solo music career. Fisk plays the guitar, something she learned from her mother. She started writing and playing her own songs at the age of 15. In 2004, Fisk signed with Universal Records.

She decided to put her acting career on hold, and focus on her music career instead. In 2006, she recorded a demo with Joshua Radin. That duet turned out as part of the soundtrack of the movie The Last Kiss. Fisk followed it up with various projects.

In 2008, she left Universal with plans to release an EP. But instead, she released a full-length album in 2009. Two years later, she released her second album, and then toured the country with the band Harper Blynn.

Fisk then joined Carl Anderson and Sam Wilson. Together, they formed the trio The Restless Hearts. Following an initial tour, they changed their name to Me and My Brother.

Bre also got her first major role in the movie The Baby-Sitters Club. She had to wait a couple of more years for quality roles. In the meantime, she appeared in one or two episodes of different shows. Her credits include Criminal Minds, The Wedding Bells, Ghost Whisperer, Carpoolers, The Starter Wife, Grey’s Anatomy, Gary Unmarried, and more.

From 2008 to 2009, she got the main role in the fourth season of The Unit. And in 2013, she appeared in the movie Las Vegas.

Rachael Leigh Cook – Mary Anne

Cook started her acting work at the age of 14. She auditioned for a couple of acting jobs and made her debut in The Baby-Sitters Club. The same year, she played a role in the adventure movie Tom and Husk.

In 1996, her modeling agency assigned her to a short movie, 26 Summer Street. And the next year, she got a leading role in Country Justice, portraying a 15-year old rape victim.

Rachael got her breakout role in the movie She’s All That in 1999. And the next year, she appeared in a movie alongside Elijah Wood, The Bumblebee Flies Anyway. In 2001, she had the lead role in Josie and the Pussycats. While the movie failed at the box office, it grew to a cult classic. In 2000, Cook made it to the cover for the US issue of FHM.

During the 2010s, she appeared in a couple of minor movies. Some of them include Vampire, Funny or Die sketch, Broken Kingdom, and the TNT series Perception.

She also did some voice acting, providing the voice for Chelsea Cunningham in Batman Beyond animated series.

In 2011, the Obama administration selected her as Champion of Change for Arts Education. The next year, she started awarding a small scholarship to students for career classes and mentoring programs.

Larisa Oleynik – Dawn

Larisa started her acting career in a production of Les Miserables in 1989. She saw the audition ad in a newspaper. She played the role of young Cosette and young Eponine. After the musical, she started getting formal acting classes.

In 1994, she starred in the Nickelodeon series, The Secret World of Alex Mack. The show lasted from 1994 to 1998. It turned her into a teen idol, more so than the Baby-Sitters Club movie.

Following the end of the show, she got a starring role in 10 Things I Hate About You. From 1998 to 2000, she appeared in 3rd Rock from the Sun, portraying Alissa Strudwick.

In the next couple of years, she had guest star appearances and minor roles in some movies. In 2016, she starred in the one-woman show, I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti. The next year, she starred in the Off-Broadway comedy Baghdaddy.

Tricia Joe – Claudia

Tricia had her last screen-acting job in The Baby-Sitters Club. Before that, she appeared in the movie I’ll Do Anything.

After the movie, she wanted to focus on her education. Tricia got a degree in dance at Fullerton College. Then, she followed it up with studying criminal justice at California State University, Long Beach.

Stacy Linn Ramsower – Mallory

Stacy is another actress that retired after the movie. She kept herself busy in 1995. Besides The Baby-Sitters Club, she also appeared in the movie The Quick and the Dead.

In 1996, she appeared in the movie Terminal. After that, she retired from acting. Stacy now works as a yoga instructor in Houston, Texas.

Zelda Harris – Jessi

Zelda had a couple of acting credits on her resume before appearing in The Baby-Sitters Club. For example, she appeared in the 1994 Spike Lee’s movie, Crooklyn. In 1995, she appeared in Baby-Sitters Club and The Piano Lesson.

After that, she appeared in two more movies. In 1997, she appeared in Clover, and then in 1998, she worked with Spike Lee again. This time, for the movie He Got Game.

Vanessa Zima – Rosie Wilder

At the time the movie hit theaters, Vanessa had only 8 years. And she played one of the baby-sat in the movie, Rosie. After that, she appeared in a number of movies and television shows.

Some of her notable credits include Ulee’s Gold, Wicked, The Braniacs.com, Murder One, Family Law, Judging Amy, House, and Scandal.

For her appearance in Ulee’s Gold, she got a Young Artist Award nomination. Her co-star, Jessica Biel won the award.

Christian Oliver – Luca

The German actor grew up in Frankfurt and Main. Initially, he moved to the US to work as a model. But he also took acting lessons in New York and Los Angeles.

After the Baby-Sitters Club, he appeared in a couple of movies and shows. Fun fact: he was 23 when playing the 17-year-old Luca.

From 2002 to 2004, he co-starred in the German action TV series, Alarm fur Cobra 11. Since then, he has collected credits in both the US and Germany. Some of his notable roles include Tribute, The Three Musketeers, House of Good and Evil, Ninja Apocalypse, Zipper, Timeless, and Hunters.
