Revenge is an American drama television series created by Mike Kelley. It stars Madeleine Stowe and Emily VanCamp in the main roles. The show debuted in September 2011 on ABC. There are many other shows like Revenge, the question is which one is your favorite?

Once Upon a Time


If you loved the fantasy and fiction element of Revenge, you will love Once Upon a Time. This American fantasy adventure drama aired for seven seasons. It alternates between two main settings, a fantasy world where fairy tales happen, and a fictional seaside town in Maine called Storybrooke.

Most of the characters in the show are extracted from famous fairytales by the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen literature. For example, Snow White, Prince Charming, and many more. There was also a spinoff series, called Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. It is only 13 episodes, with the title character of the 1865 novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

Brothers and Sisters


This American family drama television series centers on the Walker family and their lives in Los Angeles and Pasadena, California. The show aired for five seasons on ABC from 2006 to 2011.

It features an ensemble cast led by Sally Field and Rachel Griffiths. The series revolves around the lives and problems of the wealthy Walker family in the wake of the death of the family patriarch William Walker. His death causes several secrets to be revealed. Those impact the remainder of the family, including the introduction of his mistress, Holly Harper.



For fans of political thriller series, this one will deliver. Starring Kerry Washington as the title character, the show ran for seven seasons. Her character, Olivia Pope is based loosely on the former administration press aide Judy Smith. Fun fact: Judy serves as a co-executive producer on the show.

It takes place in Washington DC and focuses on Olivia’s crisis management firm and its staff. It also portrays the White House staff and the surrounding political scene.

The American Film Institute named the show a Television Program of the Year. Scandal also won the Peabody Award. Nominations include Emmy Award, Golden Globe Award, and SAG Award.

How To Get Away With Murder


Speaking of mystery series, you cannot ignore How to Get Away With Murder. The American legal thriller series premiered on ABC in 2014 and lasted until May 2020.

Viola Davis stars as the main character, Annalise Keating. She is a law professor at a prestigious university who with five of her students, becomes entwined in a murder plot. The ensemble cast includes Alfred Enoch, Jack Falahee, Matt McGorry, Karla Souza, and many more.

For the performance in the show, Davis became the first black woman to win Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. She also won two Screen Actors Guild Award trophies. Davis was nominated for a Golden Globe award as well.



The American action thriller drama aired on The CW network from 2010 to 2013. It is an adaptation of the French film by Luc Besson, La Femme Nikita. It is the second adaptation following the 1997 TV series La Femme Nikita.

Maggie Q plays the titular character, Nikita. She is a woman who escaped from a secret government-funded organization known as Division. After three years in hiding, she is back to bring down the organization.

Devious Maids


The American comedy-drama and mystery series was created by Marc Cherry. It ran for four seasons from June 2013 to August 2016. The show is set in Beverly Hills, California. It follows the lives of four Latina maids working for the wealthiest and most powerful families.

The ensemble cast includes Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramirez, Rosie Falta, Roselyn Sanchez, and Judy Reyes.



The American thriller crime drama television series aired on the CW network from September 2011 to April 2012. While its life was short, the show received critical acclaim for the performance of Sarah Michelle Gellar.

She played the twin sisters Bridget Kelly and Siobhan Martin. After one season, CW canceled the series because of low ratings.

Desperate Housewives


There are many TV shows like Revenge that focus on mystery murder and similar stories. And that was one of the overarching plots of Desperate Housewives. The American comedy-drama and mystery series aired for eight seasons on ABC.

The show is set in Wisteria Lane, a street in the fictional town of Fairview. The notable and popular ensemble cast features Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, and Eva Longoria.

The show won multiple Primetime Emmy Award trophies, Golden Globe Award trophies, and Screen Actors Guild Award trophies.

Pretty Little Liars


If you are for some teenage drama and mystery, then Pretty Little Liars is a great choice. It is similar to Revenge in the way it features a mystery murder as a plot point.

The teen drama mystery is loosely based on the novel series of the same name. It follows the lives of five best friends whose clique falls apart after the disappearance of their leader, Alison. One year later, the four friends are reunited as they begin receiving messages from a mysterious figure named “A”.



Sara Hanley and Jack McAllister meet and develop an instant attraction. That is despite the fact both are married. Sara’s husband Drew is an ambitious prosecutor who hopes to enter politics, while Jack is married to Elaine, the daughter of his boss.

Things get complicated when Jack and Drew are on the opposite sides of a high-profile murder trial. At the same time, Sara and Jack are starting their affair.



The American thriller drama series aired on the American Broadcasting Company from September 2015 to August 2018.

During the three seasons, the show followed the main character Alex Parrish played by Priyanka Chopra. She joins the FBI after graduating from the FBI Academy and becomes a prime suspect in a terrorist attack on Grand Central Terminal.

In the first and a half seasons, Quantico had two timelines, one in the present, and one in the past when Parrish where she and fellow recruits train at the academy.

The show received positive reviews, especially for Chopra’s performance. It made her the first South Asian to win a People’s Choice Award.
